I've been a PC user my whole life. I am blind in April 08 and a friend bought me an iPod Nano, which has a function for the menu to call. I called Apple on their computers and found that everyone has installed the Apple Leopard OS 10 computer with a screen reader, such as voice-over. I went to the Apple store and gave it a test drive. Within half an hour, I understood the basics pretty well, and brought them home. I learned everything about my MacBook via the Help menu on the computer, the Apple website and forums.
Screen Reader for PC an additional cost from 500 to 1000 dollars, and must be purchased new, to work with Windows operating system updates. Since VoiceOver is standard on all Apple computers, I can in the world to Apple Leopard OS 10 and it does talk to me. I can also my voice-over settings on a jump drive and load it on an Apple.
I sold on Apple. Please spread the word about how they are accessible to blind and visually impaired. You can also use a hook, Braille output, so that the deaf or blind can use it. Apple is amazing, their support is amazing. I recommend this product, tell your friends. I am thirty, and never-used first Apple computers. I learned a blind!
